For the second time in two days, someone was staring at Eva like she'd grown a second head. She was getting tired of it, but there was nothing that she could do.

This time, however, there were two women looking at her that way. Eris and Persephone were both standing in front of Eva with their mouths hanging open. It would have been comical if Eva wasn't the person they were looking at like she was a circus animal.

"You're telling me," Persephone finally got her act together and said. "You kissed Sean. Sean, the mortal detective that has absolutely no tie to the Olympians. Instead of Kai, the god that you could potentially have a life with that lasts forever."

"That doesn't make any sense," Eris said. "You're a goddess."

Eva was shocked. Both of the women in front of her were her friends. Not only that, but they'd actually encouraged her to pursue something if that's what she wanted.

"Yeah," Eris said after Eva said exactly that. "We thought you'd choose Kai. Not the mortal."

"That's not fair," Eva said. "I don't even remember anything about my life before. I don't want to start something with Kai that I can't finish."

"No offense," Persephone said. "But that sounds like an excuse. One that you’re using to run away from a love like the one I have with Hades."

Eva didn't tell either woman what Sean had done for her, the reason behind the kiss. Maybe if she had, she wouldn't be getting the fifth degree from them right about now. She’d made a promise though, and she intended to keep it. Sean had done the impossible for her, she owed him.

She didn’t know why she’d kissed Sean. Yeah, he was attractive, but he wasn’t there for her the way that Kai was.

Knowing that she had to tell them what happened after the kiss, Eva sighed.

"That's not all though," she said when she had their attention again.

"What else could there be?" Eris practically screeched.

Eva looked around, thankful that they were alone in the lobby of Three Kings. Most of the gods would be on some sort of business, or just screwing off. She didn't actually know what they did when they didn't need her help. Well, most of them anyway. Some of them, like Eris and Ataro, Eva knew worked like normal people.

"It was kind of nice," she whispered.

It could have been a shout, though, for the attention that she got for that admission.

Neither Persephone or Eris said anything for a few long moments.

"Do you have anything to say?" She prompted them, "Something about how it's a bad idea and it will only result in something bad happening, maybe."

Eris shook her head, unable to even formulate the words.

"I got nothing," Persephone said. "I just don't get it."

"Does he make you happy?"

The question came from Eris, who had gotten a faraway look in her eyes.

"Does he make you question everything you know, and want a life that you didn't even know was possible."

Eva gulped, and suddenly she knew that the conversation wasn't about her anymore.
